Syaoran is an archaeologist from Clow Country and he is in charge of the Clow country ruins excavation. Syaoran was adopted by Fujitaka and doesn’t know very much about his past although he is blind in one of his eyes. Syaoran became an archaeologist in order to fulfil his adoptive fathers dying wish.

Syaoran first met Sakura when Fujitaka and Syaoran first arrived in Clow Country. Syaoran is very close to Sakura and he also appears to have strong feelings for Sakura and even loves her. He even sacrificed his own relationship with Sakura in order to save her. Syaoran is very shocked when Sakura first wakes up in Hanshin republic and has no idea who Syaoran is. Syaoran appears to hide his feelings although Fay and Kurogane are aware of how he feels.

Even though Syaoran is blind in one eye, he is an exceptionally good fighter, which he learnt from Seishirou. He later learnt how to sense things using his right eye by Kurogane and was also taught how to use a sword.

The Syaoran that appears throughout the series from Chapter 1, is said to be a Clone of the real Syaoran and even Kamuii in Tokyo mentions that he is bait or ‘E’. The Clone Syaoran has half of the real Syaoran’s heart and the real Syaoran also has the ability to see what has been happening throughout the journey. Clone Syaoran fights Fay in order to acquire magic to get Sakura’s feathers back. The Clone Syaoran manages to escape from the group leaving Fay in a dire state.
