Kurogane is a Ninja from the world of Nihon. He is the most powerful Ninja in the whole of Nihon and Princess Tomoyo sends Kurogane to the dimensional witch, Yuuko. Before sending Kurogane to Yuuko, she places a curse on him so that if he kills someone, his power will weaken. Kurogane is very distant with the whole group at the beginning of the series although starts to become friendlier to them during series.

Kurogane gets angry very easierly when Fay calls him names such as Kuro-rin. He always shows some compassion towards the group and in Tokyo, he is very kind towards Sakura and gives her advice before going off to get the egg for Yuuko. He even teaches Syaoran how to fight with a Sword.

Kurogane was the son of a Miko and a Warrior although they were killed when monsters attacked in Suwa. Kurogane went mad and started killing all of the monsters and only Princess Tomoyo was able to calm him down and he became her protector. He also has very strong feelings towards Tomoyo.

Even though Fay loves teasing Kurogane, Kurogane is the one that saves Fay when Clone Syaoran gorges his eye out. Kurogane is very considerate towards the group and only cares really about the present and not the past, which Fay just can’t understand. Kurogane loses some of his strength by killing King Ashura and also loses his arm when saving Fay from his other curse. When arriving back in Nihon, Kurogane is given an artificial arm.
