Celes is an icy country where there is a large castle suspended on air called Leval castle. Leval Castle has large ghostly wings above it and inside the castle, there is a library, a pool (where the real Fay rests and where Ashura was put to sleep) and a throne room that resembles the throne room in Valeria. There is a little village near to Leval castle which Fay protects from an avalanche. After saving the village, Fay found 2 of Sakura’s feathers and used one of them to create a being by the name of Chii to keep watch over his brother.
Celes is where Fay was brought up and where he learnt magic.

Celes seems to be covered in snow and Ice all throughout the year. Celes has quite a gruesome history as a mysterious beast started to kill all of the civilians where only Fay, Chii and Ashura were left. Fay swore that he would protect Celes no matter what and would kill the beast. It turned out that Ashura was the beast although Fay couldn’t kill him and instead put him to sleep. Before leaving Celes, Fay made Chii into a net so that she could tell him when Ashura wakes up.
