After Sakura captured all the Clow cards, she became the Master of the Clow cards and the magic that was left behind by Clow Reed started to fade away. This meant that the cards were getting weaker since the Cards depended on Sakura's magic now rather than Clow Reed's magic. Once Sakura transformed one of the original Clow cards into a Sakura card, she would feel exhausted and weak due to the amount of energy that the card needed each time to transform into a Sakura card. Eventually the Cards were growing colder and were almost dead and they wouldn't work when Sakura summoned them. According to Kero, if Sakura couldn't transform the cards into Sakura cards then they would all become just regular Cards with no powers.

Sakura Cards are the exactly the same as the Clow cards except the colours on the design of the card and the magic were different. On the Sakura cards, there is a star emblem on the back and the colour is pink and white. Also, the name, "Sakura" is written at the bottom of each card. The Sakura book is also slightly different to the Clow book, as it is pink and white like the Sakura cards. Also the magic used in the Sakura Cards is different to the Clow cards since the Sakura cards use the power of the Stars instead of Clow Reed’s Magic.
