Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card

The movie starts at an old deserted house, which is in the process of being demolished. Bulldozers are found surrounding the building. Suddenly, there is an explosion and a mysterious card is shown at the bottom of the house which bears the same magical circle as the Clow cards.

Sakura, Kerberos and Yue are in the midst of a battle against 3 monsters. All of them combine their powers and eventually win. We find out that Tomoyo, Sakura and Kero are in fact watching a video of Sakura’s latest battle against the create card since Tomoyo hasn’t been able to record Sakura capturing any cards in a while. Tomoyo starts complimenting Sakura and Sakura ends up blushing. Kero is fascinated by seeing himself on the screen and decides to watch the video again. Tomoyo starts talking about how all of the trouble has stopped in Tomoeda after Eriol left. After the battle scene ends, Syaoran and Sakura appear on the screen in their attempt to capture the bubble card. After hearing Syaoran’s voice and face, Sakura starts to blush and Sakura asks Tomoyo if she knew about Syaoran’s feelings towards Sakura. Sakura feels guilty that she hasn’t told Syaoran how she feels or given him an answer to his feelings.

Sakura ends up waking up late again as usual and she has to go to practise for an upcoming play for the Nadeshiko festival even though it is the summer holidays. Kero is eager to find out what part Sakura is playing and Sakura tells him that she is playing the princess in the play. Kero is very pleased to hear that she is the princess and can’t wait to see her performance. Sakura greets her father and brother as she starts eating her breakfast. Touya makes a nasty remark about how the Nadeshiko festival will be a failure because Sakura is the heroine of the play. Sakura pulls an angry face but continues to eat her breakfast. For the festival, Yukito and Touya are helping out in a tea parlour and Sakura mentions that she will definitely go and see them.

As Sakura arrives at school, she finds out that the rest of the class has already started practising. As she enters the classroom, Naoko, who has written and directs the play, tells Sakura about all the alterations that have been made to the script. Sakura starts to practise one of the scenes with Yamazaki, who plays the prince, which is when the prince confesses to the princess, his love for her. Sakura hesitates when saying her lines as it reminds her of Syaoran. Sakura mentions to Tomoyo on the way home, how hard it is for her to act although Tomoyo reassures her and tells her that she will be fine for the festival. Sakura and Tomoyo notice a poster on one of the nearby bulletin boards that a new theme park will be opening in Tomoeda near to where Eriol’s place is. Sakura and Tomoyo both agree that tomorrow, they will take a look at the new park.

Sakura is practising her lines just before going to bed. She starts to remember all about Syaoran whilst practising her lines. Suddenly, a small girl in a void ball appears at the top of the tallest towers in the middle of the Tomoeda theme park.

The next day, Sakura and Tomoyo take a look at the new theme park only to find out that it isn’t open yet although Sakura starts to sense a strange presence familiar to a Clow card and starts running to find the source of his power. As she turns around the corner of a booth, she bumps into someone. As the person puts his hand up to support Sakura, she finds out that it is Syaoran and shortly afterwards, Meiling runs up behind him.

As all of them are reunited, Sakura goes to Penguin Park with Syaoran, Meiling and Tomoyo. Meiling tells Sakura that they have come back to Tomoeda although they did not tell Sakura, as they wanted to surprise her. Meiling also mentions that they will be staying for a while in Tomoeda and will wait until the festival is over. Meiling admits to Sakura that what she wrote in her last letter was true and that she is no longer engaged to Syaoran. Meiling tells Sakura that she has found out that Syaoran loves someone more than her and that she wishes that the only boyfriend she has will only love her. Meiling mentions that Syaoran and herself are staying at Tomoyo’s whilst they stay in Japan and Sakura invites both Meiling and Syaoran for supper at her house. Meiling declines the invitation as she has a lot of stuff to do and Meiling suggests to Sakura that she should ask Syaoran for supper tonight.

At the same time as Meiling and Sakura’s conversation, Syaoran is talking to Tomoyo and asks Tomoyo if she was the one that suggested to Meiling for them to come back to Tomoeda. Tomoyo confesses to Syaoran that she did ask Meiling to come back to Tomoeda although she asks him, if it was alright? He replies telling her that he really wanted to see Sakura again but he felt that it might lead to Sakura feeling under pressure to answer Syaoran’s feelings.

Sakura invites Syaoran over for supper at her house. Tomoyo and Meiling start talking about Sakura and hoping that she will be able to tell Syaoran how she feels without being interrupted. As Sakura and Syaoran are alone, they both feel awkward so Sakura asks Syaoran to sit down whilst she gets some tea and cake. Syaoran asks her if she wants any help but she responds telling him that she is ok. When Sakura tries to put some sugar in his tea, he mentions that he can do it himself and the both of them reach for the sugar bowl at the same time. As their hands touch, Sakura starts blushing and attempts to tell Syaoran her feelings.

Unfortunately, Kero bursts into the room, interrupting Sakura and tells Sakura off for not telling him about the cake. He notices that Syaoran is there although the cake is too important. Sakura then goes off to prepare supper in the kitchen and Syaoran starts to make comments about how greedy Kero is. Kero transforms into his true form and pins Syaoran to the floor. When Sakura is in the kitchen, she is very happy about seeing Syaoran again although she felt that her heart was beating so much that she would choke.

After having a delicious spaghetti supper, Kero is so stuffed that he goes upstairs to bed. Sakura takes this opportunity to tell Syaoran how she feels. Just when Sakura is about to tell Syaoran, Touya and Yukito arrive and when Touya sees Syaoran, he gives him a very long stare. Yukito on the other hand politely greeted Syaoran and Sakura.

Sakura sees Syaoran off and he tells her that he will be in school tomorrow. Sakura is very happy to hear that he will come to school and asks Syaoran if he would like to be walked down to the bus stop although Syaoran declines.

In Sakura’s room, something strange happens as one of the Clow cards leaves the book and flies out of the window. Kero and Sakura are not aware of the missing cards. The card flies to the theme park where the little girl in the void bubble, takes the card.

Everyone is very happy to see Syaoran and Meiling again after such a long time. Meiling is a bit annoyed that Sakura was unable to tell Syaoran how she felt last night. Tomoyo is thankful that Sakura wasn’t able to tell Syaoran as she is now able to capture the crucial moment on tape. Sakura then arrives.

Meiling puts pressure on Sakura to tell Syaoran and starts bringing the story of the play into the conversation saying that the princess answers too late and that Sakura should answer immediately. Meiling also tells Sakura to have more confidence when confessing.

Since the weather is really hot, Sakura mentions that they should go to this new shop to get drinks although she notices that something is missing. There is supposed to be a post-box nearby although it doesn’t seem to be there. She decides to turn left and doesn’t notice the stump of the post-box. Later one, Sakura returns back to her house and finds out that Kero has made a new record on the video game he is playing. He suggests to Sakura that she should write a letter to Eriol and tells her to remember to tell Suppi his score on the game.

Sakura starts writing her letter to Eriol as she is preparing to go to bed. Kero falls asleep with the letter to Suppi in his hands. Sakura tells Eriol all about her role in the play and the new theme park that has been built in Tomoeda and the surprise visit from Syaoran and Meiling. As soon as Sakura is asleep, another Sakura card disappears into the night.

The next day, Sakura and her classmates are practising for the play again and throughout the practise, Sakura and Syaoran throw a glance at each other. It is also the first time that they are able to try on their costumes which are made by Tomoyo. After practising, Sakura sees Syaoran in the hall and tries to convey her feelings to him but is interrupted by some students.

Meiling attempts to get Sakura and Syaoran together on their way home but as Sakura tries to tell Syaoran how she feels, a large white rabbit bumps into Sakura. In the rabbit costume is Touya and it is quite obvious that Touya intended to interrupt them. Yukito follows Touya and apologises to Sakura and Syaoran and tells them that he will buy them an ice cream. When they are eating their ice cream, Yukito asks Sakura if she has found the one she loves the most. Sakura tells Yukito that she has found her one and only although she hasn’t told the person how she feels. Suddenly, one of the Sakura cards, flies away from her bag and this time Sakura notices a strange presence but it unable to notice the loss of the cards. When Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo and Meiling are walking through the park, Sakura asks Syaoran if he felt a strange presence today although he mentions that he felt nothing. All of a sudden they find that the bridge in front of them has now disappeared. Sakura informs Kero about what they saw although Kero is unable to think about what could be causing these strange events. Meiling suddenly rings Sakura asking her if she wants to go to the theme park tomorrow since they have a day off.

The next day, Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo and Meiling meet up at the entrance of the theme park. Sakura turns up late again and Meiling attempts to get Sakura and Syaoran to tell each other how they are feeling but to no avail. They have a great day going on rollercoasters and other rides. When Meiling wishes to go on the Ferris wheel, she makes sure that Sakura and Syaoran are all on their own. For the majority of the ride, neither Sakura nor Syaoran talk so Sakura decides to try and tell Syaoran how she feels when suddenly another card disappears from her bag. Both Sakura and Syaoran sense the card disappearing and as soon as they are off the Ferris wheel, they start chasing after the presence.

They finally end up in the mirror house and both Sakura and Syaoran can feel the presence of a Clow card rather than a Sakura card. They see a little girl in one of the mirrors and starts chasing her. Syaoran tells her that she should use the through card although she finds that it is missing so she attempts to get the girl by using the wood card. As soon as she starts attacking the young girl, she takes the wood card away from Sakura and a whole group of cards as well.

As soon as Sakura gets home, she tells Kero about the whole incident and Kero mentions that he doesn’t know who this mysterious girl is. Suddenly, the phone rings. Sakura picks up the phone to find out that it is Eriol. Eriol tells Sakura that he has sensed that Clow’s house has been demolished and he has also sensed a new power. He tells her that this new power is the 53rd Clow card. Since all of the Clow cards have a positive power, there also must be a negative power to balance it all out. Kero mentions to Sakura that this 53rd card has the same amount of power as the other 52 cards.

Eriol explains to Sakura that the balance between the two powers has now been broken when the Clow cards became Sakura cards. Eriol asks her if anything has gone missing or been eradicated and she mentions that the post-box and the bridge disappeared. Eriol tells her that every time the sealed card acquires a Sakura card, something will disappear. Although there is one way to solve the problem and that is for Sakura to convert the sealed card into a Sakura card to return everything to normal. Although there is a price, the person must lose their most important feeling. Kero asks Eriol about whose feelings will be lost and Eriol tells him that the card will choose who has the greater magical power. Suddenly, the line goes dead as the sealed card has discovered Eriol and cut the line.

The next day it starts raining although the young actors and actresses are still enthusiastic and continue to do the final rehearsal at school. Sakura’s acting is a lot better and they only have till tomorrow to perfect everything. Sakura tells Syaoran about the conversation she had with Eriol and tells him all about the 53rd card and the sacrifice. Sakura tells him about the world without love and wishes that it never comes true. Syaoran supports her and he tells her that it cannot be helped if this is the only way. Sakura is unable to accept this as it is her most precious feeling and runs out of the school into the street.

She accidentally bumps into Yukito who notices that she is crying and tries to comfort her. Since Yukito is unable to get Sakura to talk, he turn into Yue as Yue is extremely worried about her. Yue sympathises with her and Sakura comes to the conclusion that it has to be done and that she is not the only one who is suffering. Yue expresses his feelings to Sakura and tells her that there must be another way as Clow wouldn’t have wanted the world to suffer.

The big day of the Nadeshiko festival has arrived. Everyone is in town either helping out or just coming to view the festival. Sakura is very worried and nervous about the 53rd Clow card and the play. Another card flies away and a large void sphere appears in the school ground erasing most of the school. She uses the sleep card to prevent any people panicking but the card also flies away. As everyone awakens from their short slumber, Yamazaki finds that he has injured his arm when he fell and he can no longer participate in the festival. A lot of the students suggest that the play should be cancelled but Yamazaki points out that Syaoran can take his place as he knows all of the lines.

Later on in the evening, everyone surrounds the main stage ready for the play. Before the play, Tomoyo performs a song to the audience whilst everyone gets ready backstage. Meiling also features in the play as a servant girl and Kero warns Sakura that it is possible that the Sealed card may attack again. Tomoyo comes to help Sakura with her make up.

As the play is about to start, Fujitaka arrives and can only find a seat next to Sonomi. He greatly apologises for not being able to watch Tomoyo’s performance but Sonomi has made sure that the performance has been taped. Sonomi laughs at the small camera that Fujitaka has for just a great occasion and tells him that she will give him a copy. With a click of her fingers, bodyguards rise out of the audience with the best video equipment.

As the play starts, the princess comes into the scene being guided by her servants. She wants to relax and enjoy herself to recover from the war over the magic stone. The princess admits that she is not a good dancer and is not very keen about dancing. One of her servants mentions that she will learn very quickly from dancing with the prince.

The princess walks onto the dance floor where she meets a sweet gentleman and she requests to find out who he is but the gentlemen reminds her that it is a masked ball and that his men have brought him over here to try and brighten his spirit. He requests if the princess will dance with him, which she happily accepts.

The dance is very beautiful and all of the audience is amazed by it. When Touya notices that Sakura is dancing with Syaoran he is a bit annoyed but is happy that Sakura is enjoying herself. As the play progresses, the princess finds out that the sweet gentleman is in fact the prince of her enemy. The prince confesses his love to her but the princess cannot reply to his feelings and runs off stage saying that he should just forget her whilst crying.

All of a sudden the stage lights explode and as the ground starts to shake a whole group of Sakura cards flies away from Sakura’s bag. All over the audience, void spheres appear making the area and people vanish around her. This includes her father and her brother. Yukito is able to escape and transforms into Yue to protect Sakura. Sakura’s determination increases and Syaoran tells her that he will go with her. Tomoyo arrives holding 2 costumes, a pink costume and a green costume. She hands the pink costume to Sakura and the green costume to Syaoran. Tomoyo tells Sakura that she eagerly awaits her return. Sakura by this time is very determined and tells Tomoyo that she will come back. Sakura, Syaoran, Yue, Kerberos, Tomoyo and Meiling find themselves on top of a building overlooking what remains of Tomoeda. Syaoran senses that the card is somewhere in the town but is unable to detect the exact location. Another void sphere appears and takes Meiling and Tomoyo away from the group. Sakura uses Windy to prevent the cards being carried towards the sealed card but to no avail. Yue and Kerberos find out where the sealed card is and takes Sakura and Syaoran to the location. With only 5 cards left, Sakura must try her hardest to get her friends back.

As they approach the theme park, they notice that it is completely empty. Most of the lights and rides are still working as the sealed card is controlling them. The horse of the carrousel attacks Sakura but Yue is able to beat it. Sakura is able to escape but lands on the rollercoaster rails and the roller coaster is coming for her. Just before the rollercoaster hits her, she uses time although Syaoran notices that time’s power is running out and that if she doesn’t move she will get hurt. The sealed card mentions that there are only 4 more cards left to go and Sakura asks why the little girl is taking the cards but just ignores Sakura. Sakura falls off the rails but Kerberos thankfully saves her.

Kerberos and Yue attempt to attack the sealed card but to no avail and the sealed card also takes them away. Syaoran understands that anything created by Clow will no longer be able to stand against the sealed card. Syaoran decides to confront the sealed card using his elemental magic. He manages to inflict some damage to the sealed card before a sphere surrounds him and takes him away. Sakura decides to use Fly to try and rescue him but she is too late. Sakura starts crying but doesn’t want to give up. She chases after the sealed card, which flies towards the tower in the centre of the theme park. When she arrives there, two of the last four remaining cards disappear and Sakura hardly gets away with protecting herself with the shield card. Syaoran appears at the base of the tower as Sakura races towards the sealed card determined to save everyone and the one she loves the most. Sakura is attacked by two void spheres and narrowly escapes them but she can no longer move. The sealed card tells Sakura about how lonely she has been and that she only wanted her friends back. Sakura tells her that friends should never push others. This is when the Sakura cards free themselves from the girl’s grasp and creates a walkway for Sakura to approach the girl.

Sakura approaches the girl telling her not to worry and that she can join all of the Sakura cards as everyone is waiting and she will never be alone again. Sakura starts to transform the sealed card and a strange void bubble surrounds Syaoran. The card targets Syaoran as he has the most magical energy at the time as Sakura has used most of her energy trying to capture the little girl. Syaoran tells Sakura that even if he loses this love, he will love her again. As the card transforms, Sakura starts crying and she isn’t aware of the last card, which was only created by her. It flies away and merges with the sealed card. Sakura hears a whisper telling her not to cry and suddenly the little girl appears on the card called the hope.

As the sun starts to rise, Sakura looks at Syaoran with tears in her eyes, as she is aware that she is too late to tell him how she feels. She tells him that she loves him so much and she bursts into tears. A sweet and gentle voice tells her that he feels the same way as Syaoran reveals he hasn’t lost his most important feeling. As the entire city returns to how it once was, Sakura can’t wait for the tower to return to it’s normal state and backs up and runs to jump the gap between the two of them shouting, ‘I love you.’
