Eriol makes his first appearance in series 3 of Cardcaptor Sakura and the second part of the Manga. He is a transfer student from England and is in fact the half-reincarnation of CLOW REED. In the series, he has all of Clow reed’s memories and magic whereas the other half of Clow reed’s reincarnation, which is SAKURA'S father, FUJITAKA, only resembles Clow and has the same personality as Eriol.

He is the main reason for all of the mysterious occurrences in Tomoeda and it is his mission to create these events in order for Sakura to change the Clow Cards into Sakura cards using her own power of the Star. It is also a way of testing her and he doesn’t tell Sakura that he is the one that is creating these strange occurrences. Due to these strange happenings, Sakura is forced to use the cards in order to prevent the town being destroyed or for her friends to be wounded. In the manga, Eriol gets Sakura to change all of the Clow cards so that she will become the most powerful magician in the world and will have the ability to split the magic between Clow’s two reincarnations.

Eriol is a very kind person even though at the beginning of the final series, he acts more like the enemy than an ally although he is in fact making everything better for everyone. He is very kind towards Sakura and showers her with affection. He tends to tease SYAORAN a lot as he flirts a little with Sakura causing Syaoran to become extremely jealous of Eriol. He is very friendly and he is friends with almost everyone in his class leading to everyone being very sad when he has to depart back to England.

Eriol is a very mysterious character, as we don’t know much about him although he has been in his boy form for quite a while now. He is also very wise and also knows how to treat a lady. He is also a wonderful artist and a great pianist.

Even though, he is the most powerful magician in the world, he is quite lonely and therefore created two beings who act as guardians to keep him company. His two companions are SPINEL SUN and NAKURU who replace KERO in YUE in a way. Nakuru and Spinel tend to tease each other a lot and really liven up Eriol’s home.
