Even though Yamazaki is his surname, virtually everyone calls him by his surname rather than his forename, Takashi. He is another one of SAKURA’S friends and is best friends with SYAORAN.

Yamazaki becomes Syaoran’s best friend as soon as Syaoran transfers to Tomoeda. Yamazaki is very cheerful and has a very cool aura. He loves telling lies about historical events that are almost believable to a certain point. He usual starts telling his lies as soon as someone mentions something related to a certain topic and he can’t help but tell them about his so called story. Sakura usually believe Yamazaki’s stories and thinks that he is very intelligent until CHIHARU tells Sakura that it is in fact a lie. Syaoran is another character that completely believes in Yamazaki’s lies.

Most of his lies are interrupted by his girlfriend, Chiharu Mihara who is the only one that can see through his lies and makes sure to tell her fellow classmates that his story is in fact a lie. She normally ends up either strangling him or dragging him away from the group.

When ERIOL arrives in Tomoeda, he is fascinated by Yamazaki’s stories and starts joining in with Yamazaki making the lie look even more believable. Even Chiharu isn’t too sure if the story is in fact a lie. Yamazaki is a very energetic character who can also be very serious. In the manga, Yamazaki leaves Chiharu when he senses that Sakura wants to talk to her about Syaoran and wants some advice. He cares a lot for everyone and he even ends up trying to save RIKA from the large waves in the pool.

One of the most important relationships is between Yamazaki and Chiharu who are so in love with each other. Chiharu makes a teddy bear for Yamazaki and hopes that he will call it after Chiharu but he ends up saying that he will name it after his favourite snack but we end up finding out that he is actually kidding.
