Meiling is the fiancée and cousin of SYAORAN LI. She doesn’t feature in the manga although she appears in the anime in episode 20. She is a very demanding and can be very open with her feelings and thoughts.

When she first appears in the anime, she notices that SAKURA is wearing her T-shirt that she gave to Syaoran leading to Meiling wanting to beat Sakura at everything. She tells everyone in her class that she loves Syaoran and that he is only hers. She possesses no magical powers although her martial arts skills are extremely good and she is also very athletic.

Meiling may seem very annoying to Syaoran and to be a downright nuisance but deep down, she truly does love Syaoran and would do anything for him, even though he doesn’t feel the same way. When she was very little, she trained with Syaoran but he wasn’t very close to her as all he cared about was his training. When her bird escapes, Syaoran saw that Meiling was extremely upset and goes out to find the little bird in the pouring rain. After endless hours of searching, he finally brings back the little bird and she feels so happy that she falls in love with him.

She then tells him that she is engaged to him and that until he finds a girl he likes more than her, she will be his fiancée. When she notices that Syaoran likes someone more than her, she cancels her engagement with him and allows him to go out with the girl who is in fact Sakura. She does encourage Syaoran and Sakura to express their feelings to each other. Even though Meiling hates Sakura at the beginning of the series, she starts to love Sakura and they eventually become friends.
